Moore wins McLaren race
Rotherham midfielder Paul McLaren has completed his move to join Tranmere Rovers.
Rotherham United midfielder Paul McLaren has passed a medical and completed his move to join old boss Ronnie Moore at Tranmere Rovers. The 29-year-old midfielder played under Moore (pictured) for The Millers in July 2004, and has chosen to reunite with the manager ahead of their League One rivals.
Oldham Athletic withdrew from the race when they realised the player's intentions, and the Prenton Park coach has welcomed the player's addition.
"Paul is a very good signing for the club. He is a holding midfielder who is very strong from a dead ball and adds experience to the squad," Moore told the club's website.
"He has played at Championship level as well as League One and is a great addition to the squad."
McLaren has signed a two-year deal with Rovers, after rejecting the offer of a new deal at Millmoor at the end of last season.
He follows the arrivals of Kevin Ellison, Robbie Stockdale, John Mullin, Gareth Taylor, Shane Sherriff and Gavin Ward, and is the seventh signing of the summer for Tranmere.
