Oldham Athletic have signed Jonathan Benteke, the younger brother of Crystal Palace striker Christian, on loan until the end of the season.

Benteke Jr, who has scored three goals in 25 appearances for Belgian side SV Zulte Waregem, joins the Latics after a successful trial.

The forward had a short spell with his brother at Palace in 2016, before injury brought a premature end to his time at Selhurst Park.

The 22-year-old Belgian has already found the net for his new side, scoring against AFC Fylde last week in the Lancashire Senior Cup.

The Latics are awaiting international clearance for Benteke and, should it be received in time, the striker will be available for this weekend's League One encounter with local rivals Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.
