Oldham manager Dean Holden was more than happy to place his trust in teenage goalkeeper Joel Coleman on Tuesday night.
Both Blackburn loanee Jake Kean and Coleman were fit enough to make Latics' squad for their clash with local rivals Rochdale, despite respective knee and calf troubles. And it was Coleman, who had kept a clean sheet against Crewe at the weekend, who was preferred to Kean between the sticks. Barring a heart-in-mouth first-half moment when the 19-year-old attempted to clear a high bouncing ball with his right boot, Coleman was largely untroubled in keeping his second straight clean sheet in the 3-0 success. "You've got two keepers, you make a decision," said Holden. "Joel came in Saturday and he got his clean sheet. His attitude and his temperament is suited at the age that he's come in. You've got to know they've got to come in and handle the pressure. "He's a great lad, a great worker behind the scenes and that's the reason he's getting his chance now. He puts the hours in when nobody's watching. "He got a clean sheet on Saturday and I was quite happy to put him in. I trust him."
