Curle joy at Magpies milestone

Notts County manager Keith Curle spoke of his pride after his side's 2-2 draw at Oldham equalled a 41-year-old club record.

Despite a 22nd-minute red card for Andre Boucaud, County made it 10 away games without defeat in the league. Boucaud was sent off for a challenge on Cliff Byrne, but Joss Labadie volleyed in Yoann Arquin's cross seconds after half-time to put the visitors ahead. Oldham's Matt Derbyshire, on loan from Nottingham Forest, equalised after 49 minutes by rounding the goalkeeper and slotting home, only for Latics striker Robbie Simpson to blaze a penalty over the crossbar after Dean Leacock's push on Derbyshire. County struck again after 81 minutes, a fluke goal by Jamal Campbell-Ryce whose right-wing cross sailed inside the far post, but Oldham deservedly levelled three minutes later with a six-yard volley from debutant Jose Baxter, but County held on to stretch their promising start to the season. Curle said: "I'm proud of the unbeaten run and proud to be in charge of this particular changing room at this particular time. I'm also proud of this result, which was down to the spirit, character and professionalism of the players. "The easy thing would be to talk about refereeing decisions, but there was too much endeavour and honesty for me to spoil it by doing that. I've seen the sending off, but I would rather talk about the excellent approach we took with 10 men. We kept playing and scored two goals away from home at a very difficult place."
