Show-stopper for County

Enoch Showunmi grabbed the only goal as Tranmere piled on the misery for Notts County with a 1-0 win on Saturday.

County controlled most of the game and Neal Bishop shot wide after Alan Judge's cross was knocked into his path. Ben Davies' free-kick scraped the crossbar, before he forced a save from Rovers goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi with a shot on the turn from the edge of the area and then fired the wrong side of the post. But the visitors delivered a sucker-punch five minutes into the second half when Showunmi collected Ian Thomas-Moore's pass and fired home. Thomas Ince seemed hell-bent on digging his father, County boss Paul, out of a hole and twice shot wide before Mike Edwards headed over. In the 75th minute, Rovers' Joss Labadie was sent off for an off-the-ball stamp on Ricky Ravenhill. County attacked non-stop for the last 15 minutes but Stephen Darby, new loan signing Lee Miller and Karl Hawley were all denied by Gulacsi.
