Defender not keen on move to Withdean Stadium
Stockport County defender Jim McNulty has confirmed he has rejected a transfer to Brighton & Hove Albion.
McNulty has been linked with a move away from Edgeley Park as Stockport look to balance the books during the transfer window.
Leeds United and Ipswich Town have been credited with an interest, while Brighton agreed a fee, believed to be £150,000, last week.
However, the 23-year-old has revealed he turned down the chance to join the Seagulls, partly due to Stockport's current push for promotion.
"I was told last week that I could talk to Brighton, but I turned the chance down," McNulty told the club's
official website.
"There are a number of factors involved in a move. One was that Brighton was a long way from my home, and another was that County are in a much better position and pushing for the play-offs."
McNulty has impressed during 12 months at Stockport, making 44 appearances since his move from Macclesfield Town.
