Oxford manager Michael Appleton may finally hand a start to striker Kane Hemmings for his side's Sky Bet League One clash against Southend on Tuesday.

Hemmings came off the bench to score the winner during the 1-0 victory over MK Dons last weekend and may be rewarded for his exploits.

Marvin Johnson is set to return to his natural position on the wing after Appleton used the 26-year-old at left-back on Saturday.

Defenders Christian Ribeiro and Sam Long continue their rehabilitation from injury.

Southend will be without Will Atkinson for their trip to Oxford.

The midfielder was shown a straight red card during their 1-0 defeat to Millwall and will serve the first game of his three-match ban.

Striker Nile Ranger is available for selection having not played for the club since the start of January after being suspended for a breach of discipline.
