Highlights from Barnsley's goalless draw with Scunthorpe in League One.

Graham Alexander's first game in charge of Scunthorpe ended in a goalless draw at Barnsley.

The visitors had the better of the opening exchanges as Luke Williams forced a smart close-range save from Reds goalkeeper Adam Davies after an inviting cross by Jim O'Brien.

O'Brien himself then went close, striking just wide from the edge of the area after 15 minutes.

Despite dominating the possession, Barnsley struggled to find any clear in-roads. New loan signing Ivan Toney had a headed chance but he could only knock Adam Hammill's teasing cross wide of the post.

On the hour, Barnsley defender Marc Roberts brought down striker Paddy Madden on the edge of the box. Conor Townsend's resulting free-kick whistled just past the post.

The hosts then went close as a cleverly-worked free-kick routine in the 70th minute released Conor Hourihane to strike on goal. His fierce, swirling effort was tipped over by Luke Daniels.
