Newport secured their Sky Bet League Two status with a 1-1 draw against Luton at Kenilworth Road.
York's defeat at Accrington ensured the Exiles' result did not matter, but Souleymane Coulibaly's late header earned them a point.
Luton were close to an opener when Josh McQuoid glanced wide, before Newport's Alex Rodman fired over and Medy Elito shot straight at Elliot Justham.
Joe Pigott dragged off target, while County's Andrew Hughes could not get any power on his header when free in the area.
Scott Barrow's low drive flicked off Lenell John-Lewis' boot and went inches wide, while John-Lewis also shot straight at Justham and put a header behind.
The Hatters went close twice just before the break, with Pigott heading over, while Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu was denied by a fine stop from Joe Day.
After the break, Pigott was inches off target from Mpanzu's low cross, while Scott Boden flicked a header over and then Pigott clipped the top of the bar from 20 yards.
Newport striker John-Lewis put another header wide, with Cameron McGeehan forcing Day into another smart stop.
Dean Morgan missed a fine chance, before the Hatters led on 81 minutes as Olly Lee's cross was headed home by Jack Marriott.
Newport, though, claimed a point with two minutes to go as Coulibaly headed home Rodman's delivery.
