Fifa blocks Leeds' attempt to sign striker

Simon Grayson retains an interest in signing Paul Dickov, despite Fifa blocking Leeds United's bid to bring in the striker. Dickov is a free agent after being released by Leicester City before the close of the transfer window and trained with Leeds last week. However, he was unable to sign for the League One promotion hopefuls as he has already played for Leicester and Derby County this season. He spent the weekend training with Major League Soccer side Toronto FC, but is due back at Leeds this week, with Grayson hoping to find a way to add the 37-year-old to his squad. Grayson told the Yorkshire Evening Post: "We are trying to investigate a way round it. "I won't say it will definitely happen, but he looked fit and lively in training. "Dickov has gone to America and he will have a look, but he will be back with us on Wednesday or Thursday. "We can then see where we are with Fifa and Uefa. He is a player I like - he has played for me before and I want competition for places."
