Josh Tymon inspires Hull Tigers Academy pay day

Hull City teenager Josh Tymon has inspired a £10,000 donation from Hull Tigers Academy sponsor Flamingo Land following his first-team debut.

Tymon, 16, became the youngest Tigers player to be involved in a major competition when he made his first-team debut last month in City's FA Cup fourth-round tie against Bury.

The Hull-born youngster, who received an England Under-17 call-up in January, impressed the club and fans on his debut and followed it up with his second first team appearance in Hull's FA Cup fifth-round 0-0 draw with Arsenal. 

Gordon Gibb, owner of Flamingo Land, donated the money to the Academy in recognition of the progress made by the teenage left back.

Speaking about his experience, Tymon said: "It was a dream come true to make my debut and my experience at the Emirates Stadium is something I'll never forget.

"With this donation, I hope some of my team-mates in the Academy will get the opportunity to make the step up and we can have a few Hull-born youngsters in the first team."

As an added incentive, Gibb has promised he will donate an extra £40,000 to the Academy if they are able to overcome Arsenal in their fifth round replay on Tuesday,

Hopefully Josh can push on to be part of Steve Bruce's team consistently and we can see other players coming through on the back of this investment

Hull manager Steve Bruce said he hoped the donation will provide more opportunities for youngsters to progress the way Tymon has done.

"The Academy continues to come on leaps and bounds under Tony Pennock and this kind gesture from Gordon allows us to invest further in the facilities down at Bishop Burton," he said.

"Josh Tymon proves there is talent in our Academy and hopefully the extra investment will provide extra opportunity for our young players coming through.".
