QPR head coach Chris Ramsey hopeful of survival after Aston Villa draw

QPR head coach Chris Ramsey says his side still believe they can avoid the drop following a dramatic 3-3 draw at Aston Villa.

After Matt Phillips put QPR ahead, a Christian Benteke brace gave Villa control, only for second-half goals from Clint Hill and Charlie Austin to leave QPR on the brink of a win that would have taken them out of the bottom three at their opponents' expense.

Second half I thought we did fantastic and the boys showed that the travelling fans had something to cheer about and all credit to them.

But Benteke completed his treble with an inch-perfect free-kick to leave Rangers in the relegation zone, but within two points of 17th-placed Hull.

"The point is better for them," Ramsey said. "We would have loved to have won the game and been above the line and then it would have been everything to fight for, even though we're still in the battle - it would have made our life a lot easier."

After four points in two away games, Ramsey admits it has given his side some belief, but was still disappointed with the result.

"The goals we gave away were schoolboy errors. But based on the performance of the second half we're very disappointed that we haven't gone away with all the points.

"Our technique was poor, we gave the ball away a lot. They had chances and we rode our luck, but second half I thought we did fantastic and the boys showed that the travelling fans had something to cheer about and all credit to them."
