Ipswich Town will confirm the club's new boss on Monday, with Paul Jewell expected to take the job.

Jewell expected to be confirmed as Keane's successor

Ipswich Town will confirm the club's new manager on Monday afternoon, with Paul Jewell expected to take the job. The Championship club sacked Roy Keane on Friday following a run of seven defeats in nine league games. Ian McParland was in caretaker charge for Sunday's 7-0 drubbing by Chelsea in the FA Cup and Ipswich have quickly settled on Keane's permanent successor. A press conference has been called for 1pm when Jewell is tipped to be handed the job of reviving Town's season. Jewell has been out of work since leaving Derby County in December 2008 and will have just over 48 hours to prepare his new side for their Carling Cup semi-final first leg against Arsenal on Wednesday. The 46-year-old knocked the Gunners out of the same round of the cup in 2006 when his Wigan side went on to lose to Manchester United in the final.
