Ipswich duo pen pro deals

Ipswich Town's long-term future has been strengthened after youngsters Jerome Sobers and Ben Patten both signed professional contracts.

Sobers appeared in the club's reserve victory over Arsenal last week while Patten played in Wednesday's reserve defeat to West Ham.

The duo have joined from non-league Ford United and manager Joe Royle is looking forward to the pair developing at the club.

"We have taken the two lads on and I'm sure they will go on to prove good acquisitions for this club," said Royle to the club's official website.

"Jerome is a big, tall lad and a sprint champion as well. He can play the ball around, mind and took the step up to play for the reserves at Arsenal in his stride.

"Ben can play at the back or in midfield and is not afraid to get on the ball and pass it. He showed a lot of composure so far.

"Both players have come in above the academy stage, more as young professionals and we wish them every success here."
