Ipswich have confirmed Republic of Ireland international Leon Best has signed a one-year contract with the Championship club.
The 29-year-old has been training with the club for over a week and his application has prompted Mick McCarthy to offer him a deal at Portman Road.
Best, who scored in the U23 defeat by Birmingham last week, arrives at Ipswich as a free agent. The deal included another year's option on top.
He started his career at Southampton before moving on to Coventry and Newcastle prior to a £3m switch to Blackburn.
Following a frustrating time at Ewood Park, interrupted by injuries, Best was loaned to Derby and Brighton before joining Rotherham in November 2015 on a contract until the end of the season.
"Leon did well last week. I was impressed," McCarthy said on the official Ipswich website.
"He knows this league. He's got that physical presence and he will add to the options we have got up front. We are delighted to have him here."
