Former Crystal Palace and Leicester boss Peter Taylor has been appointed as the new manager of Indian Super League (ISL) side Kerala Blasters.

On his latest managerial appointment, Taylor said: "Kerala has a strong legacy in Indian football and I am looking forward to working with the team and sharing my passion for football with the fans.

"The ISL inaugural season was a huge success and I'm sure it will get better and better."

Taylor will be assisted by compatriot and Dempo SC manager Trevor Morgan, who performed the same role with the Sachin Tendulkar co-owned franchise last year.

Kerala had number of British players in their ranks last term including Michael Chopra, Stephen Pearson and Jamie McAllister as they reached the ISL final in the tournament’s inaugural year.

Last season, the league featured a host of big-name players including Alessandro Del Piero, Luis Garcia, Marco Materazzi, Robert Pires and Nicolas Anelka.

The first ISL winners were Atletico Kolkata, who are co-owned by former India Test captain Sourav Ganguly and current La Liga champions Atletico Madrid.
