Black to join Bantams
Crystal Palace's Tommy Black will join Bradford City on a month's loan.
Crystal Palace's Tommy Black is poised to join Bradford City on a month's loan.
The 27-year-old winger, a former Arsenal trainee, is set to become manager Colin Todd's second loan signing in the space of a week, following the arrival of Barnsley's 26-year-old Republic of Ireland international midfielder Colin Healy.
Bradford had been battling it out with Brentford to secure Black's services, with Palace boss Peter Taylor admitting the player wanted to undertake a week's training at Selhurst Park before making any move away.
But it looks as though The Bantams have come out on top, and Todd is confident the player can make a good impression at Valley Parade.
"He is a talented player who has just not been getting games at Crystal Palace," he told the Bradford Telegraph and Argus. "But he is another one who can play in different positions across the midfield and will keep people on their toes.
"It is good to freshen things up by bringing in good players. Colin did very well on Saturday and set his standards, which he has now got to maintain and Tommy will also provide some quality.
"It is nice to have that competition for places and people know that they have to keep performing."
