A Stephane Zubar own goal prevented Bournemouth from securing a vital win at Colchester as they drew 1-1.
The Cherries went ahead after just 16 seconds through Wesley Thomas, who fired a sweet shot past Ben Williams and into the far corner after being picked out by Scott Malone. Thomas headed straight at Williams soon after but the U's finished the half strongly. Michail Antonio nodded just wide and Ian Henderson was denied in the final minute of the half by goalkeeper Darryl Flahavan, who tipped his low effort around the post. Thomas headed a good chance wide for Bournemouth less than 30 seconds after the restart and Malone forced Williams to make a reaction save. The Cherries' Wes Fogden had a goal controversially ruled out for offside just after the hour before Colchester equalised with 18 minutes to go when Bournemouth defender Zubar put through his own net, after substitute Steven Gillespie had robbed Warren Cummings and crossed into the six-yard box.
