Stoke City goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen has confessed that the arrival of Asmir Begovic has helped to lift his game.
Bosnian international Begovic signed for the Potters in January from cash-strapped Portsmouth, with the highly-rated youngster increasing competition in the Stoke goal.
Sorensen has been a mainstay between the sticks for Tony Pulis' side since signing after their promotion to the Premier League last season, but has only had Steve Simonsen as a significant challenger to his position during this time.
However, 22-year-old Begovic's arrival at the Britannia Stadium has been seen as a positive move by the veteran Dane, and is driving him to maintain a high level of performance.
"Without competition I wouldn't be where I am today and you need it to push you along," said Sorensen.
"Asmir is a man for the future. We get on really well and can learn from each other.
"We both want to play. That's no secret. I'm sure he will get his chance."
