Erik Pieters has been handed a three-year contract extension by Stoke and will be staying at the Britannia Stadium until at least the summer of 2020.
The 27-year-old has been rewarded for a string of consistent performances for the Potters since his arrival from PSV Eindhoven in the summer of 2013 on a four-year deal.
He has made 91 league and cup appearances for Mark Hughes' team in total and has once again been first-choice this season.
Stoke announced Pieters had committed his future to the club ahead of their Boxing Day encounter with Manchester United.
"I can look forward to a bright future here now," Pieters said.
"I love being here, I have enjoyed it from the moment I first arrived, and I think we will only continue to grow stronger together.
"From the moment we sat down to discuss a possible contract I really wanted to get it all sorted as soon as possible."
Chief executive Tony Scholes said: "It's important for us as a club that players feel settled and at home with us and we're delighted that Erik is committed to us for at least the next five years."
