Nigel Adkins will be back in the Southampton dugout on Tuesday as he takes charge of a side for Kelvin Davis' testimonial.
The former Saints boss will lead a Promotions XI against a team picked by current manager Ronald Koeman.
Adkins took the club from League One to the Premier League in two seasons following his 2010 appointment, and there was a fan backlash when he was sacked and replaced with Mauricio Pochettino in early 2013.
But there is no lingering ill-feeling from Adkins, who has since managed Reading and Sheffield United.
He said: "We had special times during the double promotions and the period in the Premier League. It was a special group of players.
"I'm really looking forward to coming back to support Kelvin and see the players, club staff and supporters as well.
"It's going to be a nice occasion for Kelvin. He was a big influence in the dressing room when I was there and he was my captain and goalkeeper. It should be a very special evening."
