Wolves in talks with 'Cobra'
The former Valencia and Galatasaray ace is looking for a new club after leaving Alaves in the summer.
Ilie had been training with Blackburn Rovers earlier this week and impressed Graeme Souness, but the Rovers chief decided not to sign the skilful forward because he felt he was too similar to the strikers he already had.
Monte-Carlo based agent Willie McKay, who is brokering the deal, revealed that the player is discussing terms with Wolves over a short-term deal after he was recommended to Molineux chief Dave Jones by Souness.
"I am speaking to Dave Jones and Jez Moxey about a short-term deal until June," said McKay.
"Adrian did very well at Blackburn and Graeme Souness has spoken to Dave Jones and told him what a quality player he is.
"He just needs to prove his fitness and he is keen to try his luck in The Premiership.
"He is still only 29 and he feels he has his best years ahead of him.
"It is unfortunate that a number of clubs have asked to have him on trial because I fully expect a number of clubs will be keen to secure his services after he starts playing in The Premiership.
"It will be a short-term deal until June with Wolves and if he is happy at the club he will be more than happy to extend his stay."
