McAuley hails new West Brom boss Pulis

West Brom defender Gareth McAuley has hailed the impact that new boss Tony Pulis has made since his arrival at the Hawthorns.

Pulis replaced Alan Irvine after he was sacked as Baggies boss and has mastermined the club to a 7-0 FA Cup victory over Gateshead and a vital 1-0 Premier League win over Hull on Saturday.

Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ McAuley said: "He’s come in and been positive right from the start. 

"He’s been straight on to the training pitch and got some good work into us over the last week. 

"By no means are we the finished article yet but we have another week of full training ahead of us going into the next game so hopefully we can improve on the things we have been asked to do.

"He’s certainly got a presence and a good way about him. He’s got good men with him as well. We’re trying to create an atmosphere and trying to build something going forward, and do that as a team unit so everyone is in it together. 

"Hopefully he can get some more work into us and some more ideas into us this week and hopefully we can try and kick on from here.

Saido Berahino scored the West Brom goal in the narrow 1-0 win over Hull and McAuley feels the England striker is becoming a talisman for the Baggies.

He added: "Saido this season has become a bit of a talisman for us. He’s a goalscorer, he’s a finisher. 

"We’re hoping he’s here for a long time scoring goals for us."
