Preston North End manager Phil Brown has confirmed an interest in Jamie Vardy, but has not made a bid for the non-league striker. Vardy has enjoyed a productive season in front of goal and was a key figure in helping FC Halifax to win the Northern Premier League title. Following Preston's relegation to League One, Brown is keen to improve his squad and is keeping tabs on Vardy's situation. "We've watched Jamie on a couple of occasions," Brown told the Lancashire Evening Post. "For me, he is certainly a player who would interest us, but there's nothing happening with that at the moment." He added: "At the moment it's all about talking to players and getting deals lined up ready for when the market opens. "I'm looking at all sorts of deals, it won't all be Bosmans and free transfers. "We are one of the biggest clubs in League One and we have got to show that in everything we do. "If that means being competitive in all areas, we will be."
