Di Matteo to be sympathetic to midfielder's situation

West Bromwich Albion boss Roberto Di Matteo has confirmed he is prepared to sell unsettled midfielder Robert Koren in January. Koren, who is currently recovering from a hernia operation, has struggled to cement a place in the West Brom team this season following Di Matteo's appointment as manager. The 29-year-old has previously stated he will look to leave The Hawthorns in the New Year to safeguard his place in the Slovenia squad ahead of the World Cup. And, with clubs in the Bundesliga reportedly keen on the former Lillestrom star, Di Matteo is now ready to let Koren go when the transfer window reopens. "When Robert and myself review the situation at the beginning of January, we will be sympathetic," said Di Matteo in The Sun. "Robert has made it clear he needs to make more appearances at first-team level because he is preparing to be with his country at the World Cup. "It then becomes a matter of whether we can see a way forward together. "If not, he will be made available for sale during the transfer window. "It would be a reluctant decision on my part."
