Walter Mazzarri was delighted with Watford's first-half display against Hull

Watford boss Walter Mazzarri praised his side's first-half display despite not scoring their winner until the 82nd minute against Hull.

A Michael Dawson own goal handed Watford a 1-0 win at Vicarage Road, with the hosts moving up to seventh in the table.

Victory also means Watford are unbeaten in four league games, picking up eight points in the process.

"We are very satisfied with the game and the result, but especially how we played because we were excellent in the first half hour," said Mazzarri.

"We played how I want my team to play every time."

A blistering start from Watford saw them hit the post twice through Younes Kaboul and Roberto Pereyra in the opening five minutes.

"We worked very hard at the beginning and came very close, but it gets harder as you risk letting the other side score as well.

"At the end we are very happy that we got the result, it's difficult to go 90 minutes the way we played in the first five.

"They are a team who play tough football, they usually play very well.

"Today they had five at the back, and it's a team we did not allow to play, and that is because of us."

Watford and Mazzarri head to Liverpool next Sunday, which will be live on Sky Sports 1.
