Troy Deeney is determined to help Watford finish the season with a flourish in their final Premier League match of the campaign against Sunderland.
The Hornets are 13th ahead of Sunday's final game but could potentially finish 11th with three points against Sam Allardyce's side, who secured their top flight status against Everton on Wednesday.
Watford's form has taken a dip in the second half of the season and Quique Sanchez Flores' future at the club is in doubt, with the former Atletico Madrid manager refusing to discuss his future on Wednesday, despite leading the side to Premier League safety and an FA Cup semi-final.
They lost their second game in a row with a 4-2 defeat at Norwich but the captain is determined to win maximum points on the final day of the campaign.
"We wanted to go out fighting and to please our fans," Deeney said. "We had a go going forward, but we conceded four sloppy goals from our point of view.
"It's frustrating and it's disappointing, but we've got a few days now to recover and prepare for Sunderland, so let's make sure we put it right on Sunday."
Sanchez Flores, who described the defeat at Carrow Road as a "party match" not worth analysing, has a break clause in his two-year contract which either Watford or the Spaniard could activate, ending his season-long spell.
Former Sampdoria, Napoli and Inter Milan boss Walter Mazzarri is being reportedly linked with the role.
Watford made strong starts early in either half against Norwich, with Deeney scoring after 11 minutes and Odion Ighalo six minutes after the restart which saw him end a 12-game scoreless streak in the Premier League.
"After a good start it was disappointing to then be behind so quickly, and conceding two in something like two minutes really hit us," Deeney added.
"We got back into it when Odion scored after half-time, but the same thing happened and they scored one up the other end to kill the game.
"It was lovely for Odion to get his goal. It's been a little while for him but I think he's on 17 now, and you can't argue with that for a first year in the Premier League."
