Latics boss refuses to be drawn on Blades ace

Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez is refusing to be drawn on speculating linking the club with Sheffield United's Matthew Kilgallon. The composed Sheffield United defender recently revealed he is yet to open contract talks with The Blades despite being out of contract next summer. The ex-Leeds stopper stated he believes his game is more suited to the Premier League over the hustle and bustle of the lower leagues, although Martinez does not believe in talking about players at other clubs. The Spaniard only revealed he is happy with his Latics squad and that their search for new talent is not being restricted to the domestic market.

Worldwide search

"We've got a good squad at Wigan with a lot of potential and they are still improving," he told the Wigan Evening Post. "You are always looking to strengthen and our search is a worldwide one. "We are not just looking at the English market, because some players here can be a little bit overpriced. "So I'm looking at Spain, Holland, Scotland, Portugal, Ukraine and South America as well. We have strong links there, as we have shown with the players we've bought. "We are going to be linked with many players but any who come to Wigan will have to give the squad another dimension, and, crucially, help the players we already have. "However, until something happens I'm not going to single out names because that would be unfair."
