Middlesbrough head coach Aitor Karanka did not think his side deserved to lose as they fell to a 1-0 defeat against Watford on Sunday.
The North East side were outdone by a fabulous curling strike from Jose Holebas nine minutes into the second half, and were unable to get themselves a point.
However, Boro boss Karanka thinks his team should have taken something from the game at the Riverside Stadium, but lost their intensity from the first period.
"No, I don't think we deserved to lose because I don't remember now the chances from them, especially in the first 30 or 35 minutes when we played really well," he told Sky Sports after the loss.
"But the second half, they started to waste time and we lost our intensity, then we concede the goal.
"I said today was a good opportunity to win the game or at least add points and we couldn't so now we have to think about next week and after that, the following one."
The former defender has called on his side to maintain the performance they showed in the opening 30 minutes and learn from the defeat, with a tough trip to Arsenal next up for Boro.
"Our aim for the next game is to try to play to play 90 minutes the way we played 35 or 40 minutes today and to try to score the chances that we had because they didn't have one chance and they won the game. We had a few chances and we didn't score," he said.
"We are in the Premier League and mistakes are going to punish you so once again, we have to learn.
"In the second half, they had much more space than us, but again we are going to take the experience from playing games and start adding points."
