Newcastle have spent well this summer, says former goalkeeper Steve Harper, who is positive about the club's start to the season.
Steve McClaren's side opened with a draw against Southampton before losing at Swansea, but they earned an impressive point at Manchester United on Saturday.
Speaking on Goals on Sunday, Harper backed Mike Ashley for his summer spending, which has included the signings of Georginio Wijnaldum and Aleksandar Mitrovic.
He added that, although they have yet to win this season, the signs are positive for his former club.
