Newcastle captain Kevin Nolan insists Ryan Taylor would never intentionally try to hurt an opponent.

Magpies skipper has no complaints with team-mate's red card

Newcastle United captain Kevin Nolan insists team-mate Ryan Taylor would never intentionally try to hurt an opponent following his red card against Bolton Wanderers. Taylor marked his first Premier League start of the season by being dismissed in the second half of the Magpies' 1-1 draw for a challenge on Johan Elmander. The midfielder was a late inclusion in the starting line-up after Joey Barton suffered an injury in the warm-up, but soured the day with his two-footed lunge on Elmander. Nolan, who had earlier put Newcastle ahead against his former club, had no complaints with the dismissal, but offered his support to Taylor.

Honest

"Ryan is an honest lad and it was an honest tackle," Nolan told the club's official website. "The boy (Elmander) has gone down like he's been shot which is not nice, because two minutes later he's up and running around like a madman. "That's what we don't like about it, but it's two-footed and we've got no complaints. "We know what Ryan is like though - he will never hurt, or try to hurt, a fellow professional ever."
