Villa defender eyes Carling Cup glory

Carlos Cuellar believes Aston Villa have nothing to fear against Manchester United in the Carling Cup final. Martin O'Neill's side made sure of a point at Villa Park on Wednesday with a determined display against the title chasers to add to their narrow win in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford. They could even have notched a rare Premier League double over their rivals after Nani had been sent off in the first half, forcing United to see out more than half the match with just 10 men. With that in mind, Cuellar believes Villa are more than capable of matching United on the pitch in the showpiece at Wembley on 28th February. The Spanish defender insists his side have an excellent chance of taking the honours given their achievements against Sir Alex Ferguson's men in two League games this season.

Confident

"To get four points out of Manchester United this season gives us a lot of confidence," he said. "It is very good for the team's belief because we have shown we can get points - and win - against the best team in this league, one of the best teams in the world. "Will we be favourites for the final? It will be hard but we can do it. We have the confidence from these two league games. "The final will be different but we believe we can win the game and we won't be scared of United." Cuellar believes winning the Carling Cup will be no more than Villa deserve given their form this season. "It will be important if we can win a trophy because the team is getting better and improving every year," he said. "We have some really excellent players at this club. "It would be good for the fans and for the club to lift some silverware."
