Ricky Sbragia has admitted El-Hadji Diouf could be set to leave Sunderland in the transfer window.

Senegal international linked with Blackburn

Sunderland caretaker boss Ricky Sbragia has admitted El-Hadji Diouf could be set to leave the club in the January transfer window. The former Liverpool and Bolton forward only moved to the Stadium of Light in the summer but has only shown flashes of his best ability and is still to find the net for his new club. New Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce has been linked with a possible move for the Senegal international, who he knows well from his time at the Reebok Stadium. Diouf has just returned to the club after being given compassionate leave to be at his wife's side as she gave birth.

Sit down

And while Sbragia does not want to keep an unsettled player in his squad, he will not allow Diouf to depart unless the terms of any proposed deal are right for Sunderland. Sbragia said: "If he is wanted by Big Sam at Blackburn, or if he wants to go, there's not much I can do about it. "But if that was the case, we would sit down and look at it and see if it was right for us and see if the fee was acceptable." The Black Cats welcome Blackburn to the Stadium of Light for their Premier League clash on Boxing Day.
