Blackburn have appointed Mark Venus as assistant manager to Tony Mowbray.

During his playing-career, Venus made more than 300 appearances for Wolves and enjoyed success with Ipswich.

The defender also played for Leicester and Cambridge United, before working as Mowbray's assistant at Hibernian with whom they led the Edinburgh club into Europe.

Venus later became Mowbray's No 2 at West Bromwich Albion, Celtic and Middlesbrough, before being appointed technical director at Coventry City in summer.

He was then made Coventry's caretaker manager following Mowbray's departure in September 2016.
