Tottenham overcome latest stadium hurdle

London mayor Boris Johnson has confirmed that his office have approved Tottenham Hotspur's plans for a new stadium. Spurs had plans for a new 56,000 all-seater venue passed by Haringey Council earlier this year. Now the mayor's office have confirmed that he has also backed the £450million project. A statement from Johnson read: "I am content to allow Haringey Council to determine the case itself, subject to any action that the Secretary of State may take, and do not therefore wish to direct refusal or to take over the application for my own determination." Tottenham have also lodged an interest in taking over the 2012 Olympic Stadium.
