Harry Kane celebrates after putting Spurs ahead

Who has been Tottenham player of the season so far? See our picks and have your say...

Even before the coronavirus outbreak, it had been a strange season for Tottenham, centring particularly around the loss of Mauricio Pochettino as manager, even with the club in wretched form at the time of his departure.

Jose Mourinho has endured a turbulent spell in the top job in the short time since taking over in November, dealing with the loss of a seemingly endless list of key players, while still keeping the club in with a chance of Champions League qualification with nine games scheduled to remain in their season.

Serge Aurier

The Ivorian still divides opinion inside and out of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but he has been one of the club's most effective attacking outlets this season, weighing in with four assists - half his entire Premier League tally since arriving in 2017.

Aurier has still had his fair share of issues at the back - not least giving away penalties against Liverpool and Manchester City - but going forward Mourinho has clearly liked what he has seen, and he has often been Spurs' attacking focal point with other forward options limited - and only Heung-Min Son has created more chances in the squad this season.

It took Lo Celso time to get into his stride after arriving in north London carrying an injury and soon picking up another one, but now he has settled into the Premier League the 23-year-old Argentine looks a real talent.

Per 90 minutes, he has made more chances than any other player still at the club - trailing only the now-departed Christian Eriksen on that front - and looks like one Pochettino investment into the club's future which will bear fruit.

Harry Kane

Even in another season curtailed by injury Kane has still stood at the forefront of Spurs' individual achievements, and still tops the goalscoring charts, as you would expect of a man so deadly in front of goal and when precious little else presents itself in the club's attacking arsenal, especially since Son was similarly ruled out.

Six goals in five Champions League games and 11 in 20 in the Premier League had the England captain on course for another high-scoring season before a freak injury, and now coronavirus, put that on hold.

Heung-Min Son

Another player who could never be accused of shirking responsibility when some others have found themselves in the firing line during Spurs' rocky spells, Son scored nine and made seven before - you guessed it - injury cut short his hopes of adding to that figure.

In the absence of Kane he stepped up to the plate, highlighted little better than his double, including a last-minute winner, against Aston Villa in his final game despite suffering a broken arm in that game which would later see him ruled out.
