The PFA has denied reports that a comment from its chairman Ben Purkiss at their awards ceremony offended Harry Kane.
Reports emerged on Thursday claiming a joke about Kane's recent goal against Stoke City had infuriated the player and his family.
Purkiss, 34, refuted this claim on Wednesday having subsequently spoken to the Tottenham player himself and had been told Kane was unaffected.
Purkiss had discussed the England striker in a wider speech about players overcoming tough odds to be successful, including Kevin De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah, and had been complimentary about Kane and his career.
A PFA statement on Thursday has confirmed that no complaints from Kane, his agents nor his family, have been received and that they now consider the matter closed.
The statement read: "In response to recent media coverage we can confirm that no complaints have been received by the PFA from Harry Kane, Harry's representatives or Harry's family. At no point has any party demanded an apology.
"Out of courtesy our chairman Ben Purkiss contacted Harry personally to explain that the comment had been taken out of context. Harry has not expressed any concern at all about any comments and appreciated the joke.
"Furthermore Harry was categorically not at the event. I hope this brings an end to all the widespread inaccuracies. All concerned would now like to draw a line under this matter and move on."
Swindon defender Purkiss was elected as chairman of the Professional Footballers' Association in November 2017, succeeding Ritchie Humphreys.
