Better off without Harry Kane? The amazing stat of Tottenham’s season
Friday 5 February 2016 21:56, UK
Harry Kane has continued to impress in front of goal this season but one remarkable statistic shows that Tottenham would have more points if he hadn’t hit the net once. Find out why…
The Spurs striker added another double at Norwich on Tuesday night to take his tally for the season to 15 in the Premier League alone.
Kane's goals helped add 24 points to Tottenham's total last season and there have been fears that the forward is carrying too much of the burden alone.
But while there's little doubting Kane's importance to Spurs, his army of admirers might be shocked to discover the 'truth' behind his goalscoring impact this term.
Mauricio Pochettino's side would actually have more Premier League points this season if Kane had not found the net once at either end.

For while his 15 goals at the right end of the pitch have earned his side one extra point, Kane's own goal against Swansea in October cost Spurs two points.
Kane has developed a knack for scoring in heavy wins, beginning with the 4-1 thrashing of Manchester City in late September.
There was a hat-trick against Bournemouth and a double against West Ham, while the England international has also scored twice home and away against the Canaries.
But all four of those matches would have been won even without Kane's goals.
In fact, the only Premier League match this season in which a Kane strike has had a clear influence on the result for Tottenham was his opener in the 1-1 draw against Arsenal in November.
While that goal earned Spurs one point, that doesn't quite make up for the two points his own goal at the Liberty Stadium cost his team.
Tottenham fans will be cheering on their star striker against Watford this weekend and no doubt hoping he'll come up with the decisive intervention… but maybe they'll be better off if he doesn't!
