Portsmouth have signed Gareth Evans on a one-year deal.
The former Fleetwood winger, 27, has been training with Pompey since the start of pre-season.
He was on the scoresheet in games against Coventry and Woking and has impressed manager Paul Cook.
Evans told Portsmouth's official website: "The manager wanted me to come in so he could have a look at me and I was happy to do that.
"There were a few other offers from the league above and I turned them down to come and train with Pompey.
"So I'm delighted to have put pen to paper and now I've got to knuckle down and concentrate on playing well.
"The aim is promotion - it's as simple as that."
