No firm offers for defender

AEK Athens insist that Everton are yet to make a firm offer for their defensive star Kostas Manolas. Skysports.com exclusively revealed last month that the Toffees were keen on the 20-year-old. Now AEK's director of football Arnar Gretarsson has confirmed that they know of Everton's interest but as yet there had been no official bid. "I know that Everton is interested in Kostas Manolas," he told skysports.com. "They follow the player and there is a serious interest but nothing official so far. "Their scouts came to Greece four times to see Kostas. I remember that in the last few weeks they sent a scout to see Manolas against Anderlecht and the assistant of David Moyes to see him at the league game against Atromitos. "So far, we don't have any official talks. It's in their hands to make an offer and start negotiating. They know what we are asking to sell him. "I spoke with the agent who has the mandate from Everton but I didn't speak so far with someone from the English club."

Contract

Manolas' contract is due to expire in the summer, and Gretarsson insists the club would like him to stay. "We are open to talks for Manolas," he said. "His current contract expires in June, we have an agreement with him for an extension but our financial situation and the whole story with the arrival of new investors doesn't permit us to go on right now. "I hope the next few weeks to have this possibility." Manolas' UK representative Chris Nathaniel confirmed that Everton were one of a number of clubs continuing to track the young defender.
