Gunners relishing the chance to do battle with Rossoneri again
Arsenal secretary David Miles believes the club's UEFA Champions League last-16 pairing with AC Milan is the pick of the round.
The Gunners have two games in February and March next year against the seven-time European champions following Friday's draw in Nyon.
The teams last met in 2008 with late goals from Cesc Fabregas and Emmanuel Adebayor securing a 2-0 win in Milan and a 2-0 aggregate success to progress to the quarter-finals.
The Serie A giants were the group runners-up most clubs wanted to avoid, however, Miles insists the North Londoners do not fear their illustrious opponents.
Fantastic
"I would suggest that's probably the pick of the round," he told
Sky Sports News. "It's a fantastic two games.
"If I'm being honest there are probably some other teams that we may have preferred.
"What we mustn't forget is the last time we played AC Milan in the knockout round of the 07/08 season we went through and we won 2-0 in the San Siro. Our recent history against AC Milan is good.
"By being group winners we start in the San Siro and then we play the second leg at a packed Emirates Stadium and it's going to be a fantastic night of football for Arsenal football club.
"We've knocked out in fairly recent history both Roma and Inter Milan, including a 5-1 win at the San Siro.
"It's going to be tough. Everyone's earned the right to get to this stage, but nevertheless we're confident and it's going to be two great games."
Relishing
First up for Arsenal is a trip to Premier League leaders Manchester City on Sunday and Miles believes Arsene Wenger's squad is relishing the contest.
"We're doing very league in the league," he continued. "We're looking forward to a hard game against Manchester City. We're fairly buoyant at the moment."
The transfer window re-opens in the New Year and Miles sees no reason why Wenger cannot strengthen if a player of the right quality becomes available.
"Historically he prefers the summer window to the winter window," he concluded.
"Nevertheless, if Arsene Wenger sees a player of quality that he thinks will enhance our squad he'll have no qualms about adding for the second half of the season."
