Former Gunner makes switch across North London

Tottenham have confirmed they have completed the signing of former Arsenal defender William Gallas. The France international has switched allegiances in North London and has penned a one-year deal with Spurs, having spent four years with the Gunners. Gallas, 33, had a successful spell with Chelsea before his move to the Emirates, winning two Premier League titles and a League Cup during his time with the Blues. But he has now opened a new chapter in his career as he tries to help Spurs retain their status as a top-four side. A statement on Tottenham's official website said: "We are delighted to announce the signing of William Gallas on a one year deal." Gallas was released by Arsenal at the end of last season and he has now completed a medical after agreeing personal terms at White Hart Lane. He makes the switch on a free transfer and Spurs have the option to extend his deal at the end of his one-year contract. Manager Harry Redknapp expects the Frenchman to be in good physical shape and it remains to be seen when he makes his debut for the club, with Tottenham preparing to face Young Boys of Berne in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
