Brazilian determined to regain place in Arsenal side

Gilberto Silva is determined to stay with Arsenal and fight for his place in the side. The 31-year-old midfielder has found regular first-team football hard to come by this season following the emergence of the successful partnership of Cesc Fabregas and Mathieu Flamini. And the Brazilian international's lack of involvement has led to rumours linking him with a move to Juventus. However, Gilberto - whose contract expires in June 2009 - says he is 100 per cent focused on regaining his place in The Gunners starting XI. "At the moment, I prefer not to think about moving and to fight for my position," Gilberto told the Daily Star.

Professional

"This is what I have in mind, to get back in the team and hope I can achieve that as soon as possible. "But I know the team is playing well and so are the guys in my position, especially Mathieu. "I will do my job, and I did that again against Tottenham, which was another good opportunity for me to show that I am capable to come back into the team. "You have to respect everybody, be professional and wait for your chance to come again."
