Olivier Giroud has been nominated for FIFA's Puskas Award, which goes to the scorer of the 'most beautiful goal of the season'.
The Arsenal striker has been nominated for his stunning goal against Crystal Palace at the Emirates on January 1.
Giroud gave the Gunners the lead in a 2-0 victory, meeting a left-wing cross from Alexis Sanchez with a remarkable back-heeled 'scorpion' volley which crashed in off the crossbar.
His fellow Puskas Award nominees are Deyna Castellanos of the Venezuela U17 women's team and South African goalkeeper Oscarine Masuluke of Baroka FC.
Having been pushed forward, Masuluke scored an amazing overhead kick in stoppage time to secure a 1-1 draw for Baroka against Orlando Pirates.
He becomes the first goalkeeper to have been nominated for the award.
And Castellanos scored her wonder goal against Cameroon, finding the net with an incredible strike from inside the centre circle, following a kick-off.
The 18-year-old plays for Santa Clarita Blue Heat in United Women's Soccer, the second division pro-am women's soccer league in America.
The three goals were selected by a public vote from an initial shortlist of 10.
And a second phase of voting has now begun to decide the winner, which will be announced at the London Palladium on 23 October.
