Pompey striker hopes for first Prem goal at Anfield

David Nugent admits it would be 'unbelievable' to score his first Premier League goal against Liverpool. Though the Portsmouth striker has scored twice in the Carling Cup, he has yet to open his account in the League. He has only started twice in the top flight, but the boyhood Everton fan is determined to make an impact at Anfield this weekend. "Liverpool - I can't wait for that one," Nugent told The News. "It'll be a cup final for me.

People's club

"I'm a lifelong Everton fan, so I'd love the chance to score at Anfield. "Liverpool fans come from all over the world. Everton's fans tend to be drawn more locally - that's why they call it the people's club. "It would be unbelievable to get off the mark in the league against them. It would be nice to put one over them." Despite his lack of starting opportunities at Fratton Park this season, Nugent remains happy with his decision to join Pompey from Preston. He added: "I've started two games in the league and haven't scored. Apart from that it's been coming on as sub. "I'm sure when I get a few more chances a Premier League goal will come. But I'm happy enough with how things are going at the moment."
