Stipe flattered at Reds link

By Jure Bohoric
Croatian goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa has admitted he is flattered to be linked with a move to Liverpool.

Liverpool are believed to be keen on signing the Shakhtar Donetsk shot-stopper as they look to ease their goalkeeping injury crisis.

With Chris Kirkland and Jerzy Dudek both on the sidelines through injury Reds boss Gerard Houllier is looking at alternative options in goal.

Paul Jones has arrived on a month's loan from Southampton, but it is thought that Houllier is hoping to make a more permanent signing with Pletikosa top of the wanted list.

Pletikosa admitted he was happy at Donetsk, but that he would be interested in a move to The Premiership.

"It feels good to know that a club like Liverpool is interested in you," said Pletikosa.

"But they didn't make any contacts so it's hard to say how serious they are.

"I'm happy in Donetsk, but it would be also very nice to play in The Premiership."

Liverpool could be frustrated in their attempts to sign Pletikosa as Shakhtar Donetsk are keen to keep hold of the former Marseille ace and Shakhtar president Rinat Ahmetov is not willing to consider offers for the keeper.
