Houllier: Cheyrou will come good
The French star is suffering from a slipped disc in his back, but is close to a return to training.
Houllier believes that Cheyrou should put a disappointing last season behind him, and prove that he deserves a place in the Liverpool side.
"To be honest, with Bruno I felt there was something missing," Houllier told L'Equipe.
"He got injured just as he was beginning to adapt to the English game.
"He has all the technical ability to make a name for himself, but he has been through a season he should just forget.
"He is a player that can conjure up something special in one movement, and my only regret has been that he has been injured."
Cheyrou is proud of being a Liverpool player, but catalogues the injury problems that have blighted his time in The Premiership.
"It is a great opportunity to join a club like Liverpool," insisted Cheyrou.
"I feel I have improved on every level despite not playing much.
"I think I have been unlucky this season. I had a groin injury, rushed back after a week of training and it proved too much.
"Now I have suffered a slipped disc but I hope to start training with a football next week.
"The coach has told me that he relies on me and that was enough to convince me to stay this season.
"Now I will take my time in coming back and use everything I have learned.
"I want to come back and impress."
