James Milner says Liverpool are masters of their own destiny as the club bids to reach the Champions League for the first time in three seasons.
Liverpool are on a six-game unbeaten run in the Premier League and remain third in table following the come-from-behind 2-1 win at Stoke last weekend.
Manchester City can go third if they win their game in hand on the Reds, while fifth-placed Manchester United - who trail Jurgen Klopp's side by six points - can draw level with Liverpool having played two games fewer than their fierce rivals.
But with none of Liverpool's six remaining games against teams in the top seven, Milner is confident the Reds can secure a top-four finish.
"The position we are in means it is irrelevant what other teams think and do," Milner said.
"We know that if we do the business in our remaining games, it will be good enough I am sure. It is down to us.
"We don't want to get sidetracked or have to worry about other results. Hopefully, we can take care of business ourselves."
Liverpool's fightback at the Bet365 stadium on Saturday was inspired by the second-half introductions of Daniel Sturridge and Brazilian pair Phillipe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino.
The trio were not fit enough to start the game, while England duo Adam Lallana and Jordan Henderson missed the game due to ongoing injuries.
"We have injuries all over the place," said Milner. "It is that time of the year and you just have to suck it up and keep going.
"[But] that is one thing that can never be thrown at this squad, that we lack desire and a will to win, and the attitude to come back again.
"We have done it many times and that belief to keep going and get three points is there. We just need that consistency really."
