Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery believes Chelsea could be psychologically scarred by defeat in Saturday's UEFA Champions League final. Blues owner Roman Abramovich has craved success in Europe's elite club competition since arriving at Stamford Bridge and has already seen his charges fail at the last hurdle. Chelsea succumbed to a penalty shoot-out defeat against Manchester United in the 2008 showpiece but have another opportunity to fulfil Abramovich's dream when they take on Bayern in the Allianz Arena. However, Ribery says the weight of another loss could be too much to bear for the west London club.

Brutal

"Abramovich has wanted to win the Champions League for so long," said the France international. "If they lose it on Saturday then it will be brutally tough. "It would ruin them in the head and lower morale." Bayern also understands what it feels like to lose a Champions League final after they were beaten by Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan two years ago. They have also suffered domestic heartbreak this season with Borussia Dortmund pipping them to the Bundesliga and German Cup. And they are determined not to be left with a hat-trick of runners-up prizes. "We are definitely not thinking about losing," warned Ribery, who will play his first Champions League final after missing the Inter game through suspension. "If you lose then you are distraught. "If we win the Champions League then we can forget about not winning the league or cup this year. Nobody would care about that anymore."
