Brazilian move talk rejected

Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari insists Brazilian defender Alex has no plans to leave Stamford Bridge. Reports have been circulating quoting Alex as demanding a move away from Chelsea when the transfer window opens after growing increasingly frustrated with his lack of first-team opportunities. The likes of AC Milan, Panathinaikos and PSV Eindhoven have all been linked with the no-nonsense defender, but Scolari says the player has told him he did not tell anyone he wants to leave. "I believe my player and if he came to me and said I don't give interview, I don't need to answer about this," Scolari told the club's official website. "If he doesn't give an interview for this and some newspaper writes something, I need to believe my players. "He is happy, yesterday he came and said 'I didn't give the interview'. "The club has a contract with all of us and it respects that, and the players respect that contract, only this. "Peter Kenyon has said many times now, we don't sell players and we don't buy players. Finished. "Peter is my boss, and this is the philosophy."

Meanwhile, Scolari has revealed Portuguese defender Ricardo Carvalho could return to action for the Boxing Day clash with West Brom. Carvalho has been on the sidelines with a knee injury picked up in the win over Hull City in October, but he is now making good progress with the problem. "Ricardo is not in condition," added Scolari. "Maybe two days more, ten days maximum."
